Poor Man’s Patents

Should you patent your idea or can you protect it some other way? As a startup, you will be aghast at the cost of securing a patent for your idea, process or invention! And if it requires multiple patents, then you are well on the way to funding your attorney’s college fund for their kids!

First of all, it worthwhile reading Kirk Teska’s article on patent protection. The theme of the article is caveat emptor or you get what you pay for. There are no shortcuts to the process. If you decide that a patent is necessary or absolutely required, then get it done right.

CincyTech’s New Website

The CincyTech website (www.cincytechusa.com) has undergone an extreme makeover. The menus have been streamlined. A regional calendar of entrepreneurial and technology events has been rolled out. The resources sections has expanded to include links to local and national resources, a job posting section called “Now Hiring” and a complete linked list of CincyTech’s portfolio companies. Check out the newest section called “CincyTechiPedia” under the Resources/Useful Links section to find all the venture capital buzzwords you can imagine — and you can submit new ones that we missed on the first pass!
